Makin It (at) Work: Fresh and Stylish Dressing for the Office!

The work place is where you spend the vast majority of your time, where you are most likely to encounter people who you want to make an impression on; whether it be bosses or clients.
And dressing up for work in a way defines your character and personality.

I personally agree that people take you more seriously if you are well turned out. But that is not to say that your corporate attire has to be boring. You can still show your personal sense of style without sacrificing your professional image by choosing your threads wisely.

So, here is mine. For today's corporate style I go with Denim shirt + Dark Color Jeans + A Burberry vest + close black pump shoes. Trying to manage my self to be as stylish, as sophisticated and as comfortable it should be in elegant way.

Energize your day and show a little of your youth spirit with bright denim shirt. You can look just as confident and mature as in other formal shirts.

Make your legs look longer and slimmer with dark red ZARA jeans.

Create more sophisticated look with H&M Burberry vest. I think it's the most important element for a more compelling and distinctive look!
Enhance the casual look with with budget-friendly accessories; little brown leather bracelet, black polo belt, woman's office bag and sun glasses.

No matter how busy and how hurry you are everyday in the morning, you can't excuse not to follow fashion or look stylish in your office attire. What you wear at work and your presentation is very important. So, how about smarten up your office wardrobe? and you’re bound to get noticed more quickly :).

notes: for better understanding of what works and how, there are categories of wardrobe you might need to know,
  • Formal/ business, includes suits- matching shirts, trousers and blazers with closed shoes.
  •  Corporate Casual (the one I am wearing), where you could experiment with denim, jeans, trousers and blouses.
  • Friday Fun, includes casual jeans, skirt and a top of your choice.

I am a Pinky Traditionalist!

How to not look conservative in your traditional costume? That's what I always have in mind when I am about to attend Balinese occasions. Well, if you can't change they whole model of the outfit because you are afraid that it might look impolite? I got one better solution: play with patterns and colors.

Tadaaaa... I came out in a very shocking color: ELECTRIC PINK! what do you think I look like? a traditional barbie? haha. well.. I call my self in it 'A pinky traditionalist'.

Well.. the kebaya itself is made by mom and the design is also came originally from me and my mom. As a young spirited person, I don't want to look mature. Therefore, same strong electric color is chosen both for my bustier and fabric. In order to balance its high-level of contrast, to make it not to look 'dangdut' and also elegant at the same time, the kebaya must be in dope dark color. And talking about elegant, nothing will do better than BLACK.

Who said traditional costume is boring? well.. it is if you don't try to pull out something different. As you can see on the close-up part, there's little Harajuku style on my kebaya's lowest arm. It's using a rampeled black tile to make it look cuter than the ordinary ones.

It's always good when you can use your creative idea to create something different or to look a little bit different. For me, the key to be creative is to be brave. Just put anything you like and wear any colors you want, as long as it doesn't bring any harm to other people and violate the tradition, why not?

Orange Splashes!

Hello October! Although summer is almost over or even it's already over already in some countries, I seriously don't have any idea whether it' still summer or not in Indonesia, since the climate change added a new season of uncertainty to the list. But as long as the sun still shines down the day, let's just consider it summer! What I love about summer is that I could wear bright colors outfit very beautifully. It's all because the sun helps me with it's lighting effect. Just like what I am wearing here, the bright colors match the bright light perfectly.
To be able to survive the heat, I chose to wear a simple and light material outfit. A yellow sleeveless blouse with small flower lace on the chest, paired with high-waisted skirt with flowery pattern. I added couple of orange accessories that looks almost similar in colors.

What I also like from this total look is that it looks like I bought them together at the same time to be combined, while in fact I bought them separately. I found the cute clutches at Strawberry shop (never expected they have such thing before) at a very cheap price. I got the shoes in BTC Bandung and the latest thing I bought is the skirt in Myeondong Seoul. Therefore, as soon as I realized that I've had these orange stuffs in my closet, I couldn't get more excited to piece them together.
I hope you guys enjoy this look as you enjoy your summer :)

Balinese Bustier

I'm sure that girls are familiar with this one.. the sleeveless, strapless top, with boning to give shape to woman's body, worn by as a lingerie of evening gown is called BUSTIE of BUSTIER or more well-known as longtorso in Indonesia. In summer 2013 bustier tops has become one of the hottest trend in fashion world. And now.. the type i'm gonna talk about now is the unique and traditional one, the Balinese bustie called angkin. It is used as lingerie whenever we use our kebaya. As a balinese, I found it is really important to have this as we have to wear kebaya in many occasions such as: relative's and friends' wedding and religious ceremony. It would look so much lovely if the color of bustier matches the color of kebaya we are wearing. So if I use a pink kebaya, the color of bustie will be exactly the same pink as the kebaya, or it could be a softer pink or darker pink. Due too many occasions and religious ceremony in Bali I attend every year, now I have more than twenty kebayas. (it's all mine).. and that's all in different colors. So now can you imagine with how many Angkin or Balinese long torso should I have to match them? well.. I have around twenty of them as well. haha.. I could say that I am very lucky to be borned half-Balinese because I can see how beautiful and artistic it is to wear that kind of outfit. But before/ few years ago, I was not a big fan of kebaya because it was really hard to find bustier that could match our kebaya nicely. The bustier was only available in two or three basic colors: black, white and light brown. It didn't look pretty at all as the colors of the kebaya were look dead. And now.. Thank God the colorful ages has come and variety of color tones have touched our earth so that I could have these gorgeous bustiers in amazing colors.

Having my kebaya + bustier + balinese fabric macthed is one of my greatest pleasure. I love mixing and matching colors, especially light, pastel and a bit shocking colors. I have never had the idea before that a single piece of bustier could change my whole perception about kebaya that used to be not interesting and perhaps a little too conservative.

So girls, if you got bored with your kebaya, perhaps simple thing you need to do is just to spice it up with colorful bustier ;)

PS: you can grab the whole collection of bustier/ longtorso available in many colors, size and affordable price at Eksotis Shop - Jl. WR Supratman, dps-Bali.
